PROLOGUE

"Naruto, come."

The small nine-tailed fox opened one unnatural blue eye to look up at his approaching master, before lowering his head. The morning sunlight that filtered in the through sliding paper doors was just too nice and warm to leave. Closing his eye he attempted to go back to napping until a hand reached out to pet him, rather than scold.

"Stubborn as always," Uchiha Itachi commented fondly as he rubbed the sensitive area around the ears. Eagerly, Naruto purred softly as those gentle fingers descended to scratch underneath his chin. Another hand was already caressing his fiery red fur coat. "What am I going to do with you?"

Naruto was too busy enjoying his master's attention until his ears caught the sound of hurried footsteps heading this way. Inwardly the fox sighed as he sensed his younger master coming from his room to catch up with Itachi. It was the same every morning, just like the fish Lady Uchiha prepared for his breakfast.

"Niisan!"

Itachi lifted his head after placing his shoes on, and turned to regard his eight year old brother standing behind him. There was an anxious look on the boy's young face as he met his gaze. It could only mean one thing. Already knowing what his little brother wanted, the teenager inwardly sighed and decided to ask anyway.

"What is it, Sasuke?"

The fox was rather disappointed as the older brother turned his attention away from him. The warm sensation of sunbathing had paled in comparison to Itachi's touch that seemed to reduce his muscles into jelly. Well for a short time anyway, the pleasant aroma of breakfast wafted in the air and Naruto happily trotted toward the kitchen.

"Will you teach me how to throw a shuriken after school?" young Sasuke asked hopefully. There was a slight pause before the older Uchiha shook his head. Stretching a little, the fox resisted the urge to sigh out loud; it was always the same request and response between the two sons of the Uchiha clan.

"I'm sorry, but I don't have time today."

A half eaten fish in his mouth, Naruto returned to see Sasuke being pushed back as Itachi stood. The younger boy was looking up - cross-eyed to look at the slightly reddened mark on his forehead. The small raven haired boy turned slightly toward the family pet - was his mind playing tricks on him or was that fox snickering? - before back to Itachi.

"You never have time, and you're always sorry. Am I nuisance to you, niisan?"

The fox looked between the two siblings as he swallowed the rest of his breakfast.

"Forgive me, Sasuke," Itachi replied quietly, "Some other time."

With that Itachi opened the door and left. Still standing there, Sasuke watched his brother go - hurt and disappointment was suddenly replaced with pride. He was lucky he had Itachi for an older brother at all ... someone to look up to, and hopefully follow in his footsteps someday.

Of course he needed to graduate and become a Genin and then take the Chuunin exam. But before that he needed to get to school early and train. Now... where the heck was his left shoe...?!

Looking around wildly, his large obsidian eyes caught sight of the nine-tailed bandit and frowned. "Stupid fox, give that back!"

And so the morning chase through the Uchiha mansion began.

He didn't seem to care at the insults the small boy shouted to him - he got his exercise and a little amusement watching Sasuke awkwardly run with one shoe on. The mischievous fox holding the shoe in his jaws; bounded from room to room with Sasuke hot on his tails. Naruto had to admit to himself that the little brat's speed was getting better. Then again it was an indoor chase and had they been outside, Naruto would have easily lost him and -

"Got you!"

Lady Uchiha who was currently putting her youngest son's bento together, looked up as she heard Naruto yelp. Blinking she stood and glanced out into the hall to see Sasuke triumphantly standing on one of the nine tails that belonged to a very pissed looking fox. The scene stunned her, but she resisted the urge to yell at her child, and instead offered him his lunch.

"Let him go, Sasuke, you shouldn't step on his tails.."

Wrestling with Naruto and getting his shoe back, the raven haired boy stepped away and frowned a little. It was the same thing almost everyday. When the fox chose not to go off with his brother, he would end up causing some mischief from him. If he didn't know better, the small animal was feigning a look of innocence before his mother.

"Kyubi started it."

Watching the brat plaing the bento into his backpack before putting on, Naruto couldn't help but follow him outside for a little while. Sasuke had stopped for a moment to talk to an older Uchiha from a branch house. His ears perked at the mention of his master's name. Itachi.

Itachi was a genius.

Itachi was strong.

Itachi was 'special'.

Itachi was the pride of the Uchiha clan.

Naruto frowned inwardly as he watched Sasuke try to smile proudly as the old woman went on. He assumed it would have been difficult to the brat, to live his great big brother's shadow. It wasn't to long ago that he remembered, Itachi had already accomplished many things when he had been Sasuke's age.

'Itachi is everything you'll never be' was what it sounded like the older woman was saying to the boy. For some reason it made the nine-tailed fox angry. However, lucky for her - her husband had come out and promptly cheered Sasuke up, saying someday he would surpass his older brother with hard work and determination.

Sasuke turned his head slightly and caught a glimpse of a red blur shooting across the rooftops. A startled cry escaped his throat as he momentarily was caught off balance. Something pounced at him from the side and a light weight settled on his shoulder when he righted himself. His eyes narrowed annoyance as he caught sight of those crimson nine tails fanned across his face.

"Ah! Naruto-sama!" the elder couple greeted with a deep bow as the fox set his blue stare on them. "Good morning!"

Rolling his eyes behind the animal's deep red coat, Sasuke fathom why everyone in the clan had to spoil the creature just because he was a pet of the main house. More like Itachi's pet. But it still surprised him a little, why was the Kyubi with him rather than with his brother?

"Oi, get off," the boy hissed irritably as he tried to shake the fox off his shoulder. "I'm going to be late."

The weight off his shoulder was suddenly gone and the young boy blinked and looked around. The fox was nowhere in sight. Where did he...? Shaking his head, he waved to his elders and was off.

Waving back, the seniors turned to regard the small figure standing on the rooftop of their house. Those blue eyes watched the boy running further and further away as an unpleasant wind brushed against his fur. He twitched slightly and glanced down and the two humans.

"Naruto-sama?"

"Hmmm.. he saw me coming at him at that speed this time," the Kyubi smirked and spoke aloud for the first time all morning, as he planned to follow Sasuke to school. He was going to need a lot of training if he ever planned to surpass his older brother.

"Perhaps someday he'll be a worthy master, Naruto-sama?"

'Heh,' The fox snorted outloud, 'the day that happens, is the day I become the Hokage of this village.'

Nope, I'm not dead, I'm so sorry this has taken me six months, and not much really happens either, but here's chapter 9.

Guardian Angel - Chapter 9 – Anger

Sasuke was sat in Ichiraku's ramen, staring absently into his bowl of noodles. He was still in a state of shock after what Iruka had revealed, and he kept replaying the moment in his head.

He wanted to say something, anything, to Naruto, he wanted to help. But then he remembered Iruka's urgency as he demanded that they not say anything, he could still hear his words ringing in his ears…

Sakura gasped, her hand flying up to her mouth.

"You can not say anything, Sakura." Iruka said, his voice hard with urgency.

"But...but…"

"No!" he roughly shook his head, "it would break him." This time he said it softer, resting his hand on her shoulder, and he looked between the two teens, to convey the levity of his words.

"What can we do?" Sasuke asked.

"Help him through. All of us."

"Naruto." He muttered. Yeah, help him through, that's what I'll do, he thought, before returning to his ramen.

Once he was done eating, Sasuke stood up, threw some money on the counter, and left the restaurant. Reaching a fork in the road, he paused in thought, before taking the turning that led away from the Uchiha district, and would take him Naruto's flat.

Upon reaching the foot of the block that housed the flat, he took the true shinobi way, and jumped through the window. Naruto was curled under the thick duvet, and Sasuke could see that his thin frame was shaking violently.

The Uchiha perched on the window sill, and watched the boy thrash in his sleep, unsure if he should wake him from his night terrors or not. Before he could say so much as 'I-hate-my-brother-time-to-go-and-kill-him', blue eyes snapped open as he jolted upright, and a strangled scream bubbled from his throat. Sasuke jumped forwards and grabbed him by the shoulders, shaking him. But it had the opposite to the desired affect.

"Get away from me!" he screamed, "Get-a-way-from-me!" Naruto tightly scrunched his eyes; his body was still trembling erratically.

"Naruto?" he said softly, backing away from the other boy, he sat at the end of the bed, and waited for the hysteria to pass. It wasn't long before Naruto stopped screaming, only until he realised that Sasuke was no longer touching him, and then another ten minutes before his breathing slowed, and he opened his eyes, blinking.

"Oh fuck, Naruto," he whispered, "What're we going to do with you."

A black figure was looming out of the darkness, and he felt clammy hands on his body. Opening his mouth, Naruto let lose a heart-wrenching scream. The man disappeared, but by this point Naruto was stuck in his nightmare, unable to realise that he had woken up.

"Get away from me!" the words burst forth, unbidden.

Eventually Naruto blinked as coherent thought returned to him, and he saw someone perched on the bed before him. He heard Sasuke mutter something. But he felt comforted, the other boy being there, though this thought thoroughly scared him. The last of the Uchiha's stood up, and slowly walked around to the side of the bed that was closer to the door. He held out his hand, but Naruto flinched away.

Instead he headed for the door that led to the rest of the flat, and opened it, leading the way to the kitchenette, indicating for his friend to follow. Naruto shakily stood up, and, pulling on a green dressing gown, followed Sasuke out of the bedroom.

Once the blond was sat at the small wooden table, Sasuke poured him a glass of orange juice from the fridge, and placed it before him on the table, before turning his attention to the as-off-yet untoasted bread.

As Sasuke watched Naruto eat his rather belated lunch, he decided that the boy was looking pale and peaky.

"I thought we could stop in and say hey to Iruka, the academy should be letting out soon." He said, nonchalantly, deciding that it would be good for Naruto to see his all time favourite sensei.

The two did just that, and spent twenty minutes helping him clear up the classroom in which he taught. Predictably, he had been delighted to see them, although it was obvious that by them he meant Naruto. They had talked about everything and nothing. Sasuke had glanced at the clock repeatedly, and eventually made excuses for them to leave, and so they left a slightly disappointed Iruka to his peace.

On their return journey, Sasuke watched Naruto out of the corner of his eye. The blond's eyes were flickering from left to right, warily watching the passing crowd. Sliding his gaze downwards, he saw that Naruto's body was tense, his shoulders hunched tightly, and his jaw clenched. His hands were clenched, digging viciously into his palms. There was a slight, barely noticeable, trembling in his arms.

Rounding a corner, there was a group of four civilian teenagers laughing and joking jovially, enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun. One, a tall boy with ashen hair, was sat on a smaller girl that bore a slight resemblance to Sakura. She was squealing loudly.

"Rape! Rape!" She cried, before breaking into a fit of hysterical laughter.

Naruto froze. Sasuke walked a few steps more, before he realised that his companion was no longer besides him, he retreated, and stopped besides Naruto.

"Naruto?" he asked, "Naruto, what's wrong?"

"I just don't get what so funny about it." He said quietly, the quiet anger in his voice obvious.

Sasuke opened and closed his mouth a few times, unsure of how to reply, but before he could say anything, Naruto had bolted, speeding away in the direction of his flat.

Sasuke followed, and it wasn't long before he was stood in the middle of the flat, Naruto's bedroom door having just been slammed in his face, forcing him to back away, surprised.

"Just go away!" Naruto was angry, so much so that it was scary. He had never acted this way before.

"But Nar-" he was cut off by the sound of a shoe colliding with the hard wood of the door.

"Just fuck off!"

Not knowing what to do in such a situation, he quietly slipped out the door.

So there was that.

And by the way, the girl wasn't really being raped, it was just kids messing about as kids do.

Anyway, I'm of to watch Marry Poppins, hope you all enjoyed that.

Well, You Look Familiar | A Naruto/Jujutsu Kaisen Crossover Fanfiction

No one was aware of the rare planetary alignment that only happens once every one hundred years. That’s why, when Kakashi was forced to activate his chidori to defend himself from Naruto’s Rasengan, Sasuke’s Great Fireball Technique, and Sakura’s Earth Release during their usual drill session at training ground three, none of them ever expected that they’d all be sucked inside a galactic rift that suddenly formed in thin air and swallowed them in a zap.

What If Naruto and Shikamaru Travel back in time--The Silent Guardian's-- Part 1
Well the truth imo is that the series obviously wasn't thought that far ahead. Hell originally Naruto was a demon fox trapped in a boy, and this was before all the villages had tailed beasts and s***. Gaara just happened to have a demon himself. It was before it became a recurring theme. Re-watching the old episodes it's pretty crazy how much the show has changed

Yeah I think the Third Hokage, Iruka, and others all kept an eye on him but he was still kind of an outcast (Character drama, etc.)

But for the purposes of the plot, Naruto grew up alone and ignored and somehow didn't turn into an anti social menace. And amazingly enough, he's fanatically loyal to a village where most of the population, including a large amount of it's ninja forces at the start of the series despise him. It's a miracle.

maybe that was pure coincidence and most timelines turned out like that movie with evil naruto

Train Naruto from a young age and openly acknowledge his status as the JINCHUURIKI. So of course the Hokage, Jiraiya and Kakashi can take an interest in Konoha's secret weapon and would ensure he's trained and loyal to the village.

well the third was always nice to naruto, and jiraiya/kakashi did know about that, why they didn't do anything I have no idea.

I don't think either of them thought themselves capable of actually raising a kid properly.

Also hard to raise a kid as a single high level Ninja.

Jiraiya practically took care of Nagato, Konan and Yahiko for a while and long enough to train them how to do Ninjutsu and take care of themselves. He then eventually took care of Naruto for 3 years. Reason for his not taking care of Naruto earlier may have been due to missions assigned to him by the toad elder at the time.

Naruto's situation seems to have also been similar to Sasukes after the Uchiha massacre, I think those apartments that they lived in are their versions of orphanages, or more accurately, assisted living, at least for kids that are old enough it would seem, which is even a thing in real life with certain underaged kids who are on assisted living.

Such kids are allowed to live alone in little tenaments and they get checked up on periodically by legal authorities. In the Naruto world, one can be a registered ninja as a child, let alone considered old enough to take care of themselves in a tenament at least. I would wager that they figured 12 was at the very least old enough for assisted living tenament assignment. We also see higher ranking ninja visiting Naruto's apartment and commenting on his diet, so I am sure Naruto had a similar kind of situation to certain underaged orphaned or emancipated teenagers in real life on assisted living.
Though maybe a more accurate comparison would be boarding school dormitories or military school/ barracks. Konoha is technically a residential military base for the Fire Country.

Though for Naruto specifically we also have to factor in the fact that most of the adults actually hated Naruto because they knew he had the fox in him. Hiruzen could have possibly raised him but he would obviously be away a lot being hokage. He barely had enough time for his own grandson .

Then we got Iruka who had no disclosed reason to be assigned his guardian by the authorities, particularly when he had no connection to Minato or Kushina, and especially considering that when Naruto was born, Iruka himself was still a child. Iruka after some years became his teacher at a later point in Naruto's life but certainly hadn't established any substantial relation to Naruto yet, and he could barely teach Naruto nor stop him from getting into trouble or playing pranks as it is, so it would be a bit too much to ask of a young man, who already could not handle him and who didn't even start a family of his own yet, to raise the kid as his own. Iruka seems to have did his best while not being a legal guardian.

Kakashi? That's an even more esoteric suggestion than Iruka situationally speaking. Kakashi and Naruto were basically strangers before he became a registered ninja, and by that point, he was considered capable enough to be on his own anyway.

Ninjam

Imagine a ninja village where pulling the deep cover operation of pretending to be a child's parents is off the table... Anbu my ass.

From a writing perspective Kishimoto probably thought it'd be too messy to have a real guardian. Calls too much attention to Naruto's history. Not for the reader, since we knew he was the 4ths son the second we saw that picture on the wall, but for Naruto himself. A nice guardian would still make Naruto wonder who his parents were. A mean guardian even more so. Guardians pretending to be his parents would erase a lot of the angst of his childhood. Basically any introduction of a parent figure pre-Iruka changes Naruto's childhood dramatically.

For a story perspective (that gives Kishimoto too much credit)... Post great-war it would've been politically tricky to develop Naruto. The nation is already conflict weary and not too long ago the 9 tails wrecked the village and killed the 4th Hokage. There would've been a lot of debate over what to do with Naruto and some resistance to immediately weaponizing him. It's a hard sell to turn around and sell the village that they're going to weaponize the monster they barely defeated. So it seems the village landed on keeping him dumb and out-of-touch with his heritage/power. Why would they do that? Just in case they needed to erase him at any point. Lot easier to erase an orphan who doesn't know about his kaiju powers and doesn't have anyone who cares about him. It also explains their weak commitment to his education/welfare. The kid gets to go to school, have a s*** apartment, and eats instant ramen. It's the bare minimum to keep a kid sane. The only reason Naruto probably has that is because of the 3rds optimism for his future. The pressure from the rest of the political forces stopped it from being anything more, or less, because you know if Danzo had his way the series would've started in a ROOT facility.

This attitude, keep Naruto in the dark, is still in play all the way to the chuunin exams. Kakashi, who knows everything about Naruto's heritage and potential, passes him off to Ebisu for training. Ebisu, who is in every sense attached to the political machinations in Konoha, doesn't address the giant fox in the room. Like all his teachers, he tries to instruct Naruto like he merely has poor chakra control. (Kakashi would know the reason for this if he gave a damn about debriefing his team after the Forest of Death). It takes Jiraiya, a political outsider, to legitimately develop Naruto as a jinchuuriki.
It's not until Naruto f***ing singlehandedly stops the one tails that the village sees any worth in him. It's why they let him go on a training journey with Jiraiya despite knowing full damn well that Akatsuki is trying to abduct him. The power in the village is completely sapped and for the first time people feel ok about developing the 9 tails as a village asset.

f*** Konoha.

Such as: Give Naruto the last name Yamanaka and hire members of the clan to act as his parents. It would be an S ranked mission and eventually Naruto would be told of his heritage.

...I assumed that was just some sort of random example you pulled out your ass, but Ino and her dad DO have blonde hair and blue eyes, though not exactly like Naruto's. They probably could have passed Naruto off as Ino's brother.

Hell, I kinda wanna see that as an AU now.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned that clan. They're the only other group of people in Konoha who look like Naruto. There is a fanfic where Naruto is adopted by the Yamanaka clan, but it's actually Kurama living in Naruto's soulless body...so it's not really Naruto at all. It's a good AU fic though.

The more I think about the concept, the more I like it. It would especially add another layer to the dynamic between Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Ino, and tie the two rivalries together (seriously. Naruto has a crush on Sakura, who has a rivalry with his sister, and both have a crush on his rival).

I watched her actions, at first she abundantly watered the entire surface of the priests and rubbed it thoroughly, from which she began to sparkle, then. She began to work on the hole, so to speak, of the back door. Having finished with the lubrication, Ksenia took a phallus 15-17 centimeters long in her hands and began to immerse it in me, since the priest had already been developed with.
