The cooking jingle in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is reason enough to give cooking a shot in Hyrule. In this complete Zelda Breath of the Wild cooking guide, we'll be walking you through how to craft recipes for Link, so you can carry around plenty of healing items at once.

On this page

How to Cook in Breath of the Wild

As a general rule it’s best to cook an item before eating it. This increases the benefit of the item. So, for example, raw meat can be eaten as is to replenish some hearts but cook it to replenish even more. Food items are found growing on things (apples), by killing animals (raw meat from killed boars), and by harvesting crops. To make meals that have large effects on Link, you must combine them into a pot and cook them.

Took cook items together, find a cooking pot then hold all the items you want by selecting them in your inventory (you'll get an option to hold them), then when returning to the game world you'll get a visual indicator to place them in the pot.

When cooking you can be given bonuses (such as extra hearts, stamina or buff duration). Cooking during a Blood Moon will also grant you a bonus.

In the video below you can see some of the best recipies in Breath of the Wild being cooked.

Elixir Recipes

These potions are made by combining food, monster parts and critters. Monster parts are found pretty much whenever a monster is killed, and critters are the smaller insects and the like you’ll find buzzing around.

  • Spicy Elixir: Combine Sizzlewing Butterfly + Bokoblin Fang. This gives an enhancement to cold resistance.
  • Energizing Elixir: Combine Bokoblin Horn + Restless Cricket. This elixir will completely restore the stamina wheel.
  • Hasty Elixir: Combine Hightail Lizard + Monster Parts. This provides a movement speed increase.
  • Sneaky Elixir: Combine Keese Eyeball + Sunset Firefly. This gives a two-point boost to stealth.

If you’re still early on in Breath of the Wild it’s worth cooking some Spicy Meat and Seafood Fry for the Old Man so you can get the Warm Doublet. You might also want to tame your own horse and unlock the camera. It's worth finding out how to kill Guardians and figuring out how to respec Link's health and stamina.

That’s how cooking works in Breath of the Wild. We’ll add more recipes to the list as we find them, but feel free to experiment. Remember to cook food where possible to enhance its healing properties (you can do this over any fire if you’re desperate). The lovely video below shows how cooking works at the most basic level. Remember to hold the items you want to cook in your inventory, then place them in the pot. We came unstuck with that when we first tried. It's easy once you know.

Cooking Food in Zelda BotW is how Link will acquire the majority of Healing Items and Elixirs in the game. Since specifically Cooked food heals a lot more Hearts, then uncooked food. You will find yourself cooking and discovering new recipes as your progress through the story line and find Rare Ingredientsfor your dishes.

When you use an ingredient that contains a buff, it will have a prefix; Indicator to help you understand its effects on Link and Crafting Recipes using the ingredient.

You can’t combine these separate buffs, so no meal will be Hasty and Tough. But you can combine multiple of the same ingredient to stack the buff and make it last longer, for, example using two chillies instead of one in a cooking recipe for a Spicy Meal will make your Resistance To Cold buff last for a longer duration.

You will want to carefully consider what you mix together if you want to make the most effective dishes.Cooking

Cooking boils down to two main types of dishes—meals and elixirs. Meals are made of food items such as meat, vegetables, and fruit. Elixirs are made from monster parts, bugs, and small creatures. With the right ingredients, your concoctions can produce buffs. Elixirs are mainly for buffs, not healing, though you can make elixirs that give Link additional hearts.

Buff Types

There are 10 types of buffs in Breath of the Wild. They are

To tell if an ingredient has a certain quality, look at the name! It usually says the type right in the name (i.e. Mighty Porgy) or is synonymous with the quality (i.e. Silent Princess).

The Best Ingredients

There are tons of ingredients to gather and mix together, but only a few offer the most bang for your buck, so to speak. You'll want to track down the following ingredients if you want the biggest perks added to your meals.

A few tips before cooking the crème de la crème of meals and elixirs.

  • Do not mix buffs. They will cancel out and provide no buff at all.
  • Make sure to keep elixir ingredients with elixir ingredients. Cross over will ruin the dish and become useless.
  • Adding more of the ingredient to the dish will increase the buff. Adding four chillshrooms to a chunk of raw meat will be more effective against the heat than a meal with two or three chillshrooms.
  • In meals, the more meat you cook with, the more health you can recover. This means fewer buff ingredients. Balance to your needs!
  • Putting four buff items in an elixir is more beneficial than four in a meal.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Staminoka Bass Farming (1 Fish = 1 Stamina Wheel)

Breath of the Wild Elixirs

This is a list of all the elixirs you can make in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (BotW). You can also find recipes to see how to make elixirs and the materials you need for the various effects!

Elixirs.jpg

Elixirs differ from the cook food in two ways; they use Monster Parts as ingredients, and they always have an effect.

These effects can boost things like your health, stamina or attack power, or serve to protect you against the elements of Breath of the Wild. Especially stamina potions are super useful, so let's get cooking!

Not really food, and yet not really an elixir, Fairy Tonics are potions made with Fairies that heal large amounts of hearts.

All Elixirs are made by combining a Monster Part and a Creature with the desired effect.

Elixir Material Requirements
Critter + Monster Part

Some materials can be bought from shops or traveling merchants, but you'll probably find most of your ingredients as you adventure through Hyrule.

Breath of the Wild - Look for Cooking Pot
Just like when cooking food, you can only create elixirs by mixing your ingredients in a cooking pot. Cooking pots are easy to find in stables and villages. , so travel to one and start looking for a cooking pot.

Breath of the Wild - Get Materials
Next you choose the base materials you'll use to make the elixir, based on what kind of buff you want. For example, one way of making a basic stamina potion is to hold a Restless Cricket and a Keese Wing and cook them, and if you want more stamina recovery you can add more Crickets.

Stamina Potion.jpg
Exit your menu and step close enough to the cooking pot for the Cook option to appear (A button), then start cooking! You'll see the result immediately, bu you can also check it via the Food tab in the Inventory.

Critter & Monster Comaptibility Result.jpg
Critters and monster parts with the same attribute have the most compatibility when cooked into an elixir. Always check each critter or monster part attribute to get the highest quality of elixir before making one.

Decide the Elixir.jpg
Avoid randomly selecting each material and first decide on what elixir you want to make, then look for the creatures and monster materials that will give the buff.

You can then power up the effect by adding more Creatures, or make the potion last longer by adding more Monster Spoils.

EffectExplanation
Attack UpDeal more damage than usual.
Defense UpTake less damage from attacks.
Extra HeartsGives you bonus hearts that will decrease before your normal hearts.
Extra StaminaGives you bonus stamina that will be used when the normal gauge runs out.
Stamina RestorationImmediately recovery part of your stamina gauge.
Movement Speed UpWalking and running speed will be increased.
Stealth UpMake less sounds when moving, allowing you to sneak up on enemies.
Flame GuardImmune to burning, whether from environments or attacks.
Cold ResistanceBecome able to withstand colder temperatures.
Heat ResistanceBecome able to withstand higher temperatures.
Shock ResistanceTake less damage from electric attacks and lightning.

Dubious Food.jpg
Try not to waste your precious materials by adding ingredients that are not included in the recipe. Adding a single apple, for example, will result in a Dubious Food.

Ingredients botw stamina

What are the best and easiest food/elixirs for stamina increase?

While cooking 5 extra-stamina-wheel foods can be good if you want to burn through multiple wheels of stamina all at once (such as slow-time arrow shooting or very long glides), if you're going to be doing activities where you can stop and eat food halfway (such as climbing), the most efficient way to restore your stamina is to cook a single one of these ingredients by themselves, as any food that increases the maximum of your health or stamina (even if just by a little bit) will also fully replenish it.

With this in mind, while 5 Stamella Shrooms in a pot will give you two bonus stamina wheels (and will fully recover your normal stamina, effectively giving you three worth), if you cook each one individually and then eat it just as your stamina is about to run out, you can effectively get 5 or so stamina wheel's worth. If you've buffed your maximum stamina amount at all, the difference can get even greater.

THE BEST Recipes GUIDE in Breath of the Wild - Best Dishes Cooked- Austin John Plays

Bound her trembling body, not understanding what was happening, she slowly walked to the gurney on wadded feet and lay down with difficulty on her, belly down. -Face down, slut, hands along the body and do not move. Both men took the grips of the gurney and drove her down a long corridor. At the same time, her bare ass stuck defenselessly out of a large slot on her shirt.

-You just look at what a shit.

Now discussing:

It doesn't work that way. " So. Ordinary stupor. Andryush, you should at least touch me by the boob, or something. Do not be shy, touch, well, you see, it's not scary at all.
