When did you start CrossFitting?
I started CrossFit in January of this year.
Who/what got you started?
I think like most people I was trying to figure out a fitness goal to work towards in the New Year (5k, a new class, etc.) but was completely out of ideas and burnt out on running on a treadmill. My cousins were in town at Christmas and they all have done CrossFit for years. Naturally, our Christmas dinner conversation was all about CrossFit. I liked what I heard and figured I would check it out!
What is your favorite/least favorite WOD?
I liked one of the more recent EMOMs we did- 2 power cleans on odd minutes and a m run on the even minutes for 24 minutes. My least favorite WOD was three rounds for time of: Run m, 15 push presses, and 15 burpees over the barbell (plus it was in the July heat so that just made it even better…).
What is your favorite/least favorite movement?
My favorite movements are probably the Oly lifts, back squats, and dead lifts. Thrusters and burpees are my least favorite.
Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, interests, etc.)
I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA and have three sisters and three hilarious brother-in-laws. I graduated with a bachelors in social sciences and religion from Liberty University. A little over a year ago I moved out here to be closer to family. I am a paralegal assistant for a firm that specializes in employment law. Growing up I played field hockey, swimming, and volleyball.
What was your workout routine before CrossFit?
I would either go for a 30 min run around the nearby park or on a treadmill.
What did you think after your first CrossFit workout?
Besides being exhausted I was actually excited to find a program that was challenging and one that felt like I was back in “training mode” again.
What were your goals when joining CrossFit? Have you achieved any of those goals?
My goals were to get in better shape and to increase my strength. I would say I have definitely achieved those goals and look forward to continuing to get better!
Has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym?
Yes, I would say CrossFit has affected my life outside the gym. I feel more organized and structured in daily life (planning out when I will get to the gym each week, paying more attention to nutrition when grocery shopping and meal planning, etc.). I’ve also made some great friends at the gym!
Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?
Any PR is an awesome achievement but I think the most exciting achievements for me have been making progress on the movements that seemed impossible back in January (sup. grip pull-ups, double unders, etc). There’s still plenty of work on those but it’s cool to know that they can be achievable.
A special memory for me was seeing how the CrossFit community is so large, but so small at the same time. I was able to watch my cousin and his team (as well as the team) compete in regionals for the CrossFit Games and I even saw an old field hockey teammate from Virginia Beach make it to the Women’s individual competition. It was such a great surprise to see her on the TV!
What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit ?
Number one, I would say don’t be nervous or intimidated to go try it out. Every athlete there has been a beginner at CrossFit at one point so they know what it’s like when you start out. Plus, they’ll do nothing but encourage you. Number two, leave your pride at the door. For the first 3 months I wouldn’t compare your progress or numbers to anyone else’s in the box. If you’re like me who started from zero strength training, then it’s probably going to take some time for your body to adjust and learn the movements and that’s okay. If you keep going consistently, listen to the coaches’ directions, and do the best you can each WOD, you’ll start to pick up speed in no time!

Puts two thousand in his wallet. Danger of getting pregnant, picking up a sexually transmitted disease. She is almost indifferent. Throwing another piece of gum into your mouth seems more important.
Then I'll do whatever you want, whatever you want. Zheka, dear, save me. He's so scary, so dirty and smelly, I'm so scared. Zheka, dear, save me, ah-ah. Then Vovka flew up and gave out the whole deal about the debt.Sarah Deaton
Greetings Valer, I'm sorry to distract you. The ringing, ringing of Sasha, but he does not answer, presumably made a soundless call, and Vera's phone is turned off. Do you know where they are. - asked my brother.
