Viral SpongeBob Squarepants Anime Teases Surprising English Dub

SpongeBob Squarepants' viral anime openings not only have graduated to a full episode, but now is teasing a surprisingly great English dub release is on the way! If you have been on Twitter for the last few years, there is a chance that you may have seen animator NARMAK's anime interpretations of the famous Nickelodeon cartoon in the past. Not only making a major viral hit with one anime styled opening, but several different ones that teased fun new interpretations of the fan favorite animated series. The latest release of the first full episode of this series has gone viral in just the same fashion too.

Fans have already heaped tons of praise on the first full entry in the fan-madeSpongeBob Squarepants anime, there is bound to be even more praise coming its way with the upcoming release of the series' English dub. NARMAK took to Twitter to share a new trailer for the viral series to tease much of the English dubbing work that these crafty fans and artists have put together. And it's just as surprisingly great as the anime take on the series is!

With talented individuals that do their best to match the original voice cast (with a cast list NARMAK shared on Twitter here), it's so splendidly put together that the full release of the dub is bound to be an excellent one. Unfortunately there's no date for the upcoming dub just yet (or whether or not this is just a hilarious bit on top of several other hilarious bit), but fans might want to keep an eye out to see what this team can surprise us with yet!

Although this was a genuinely fun premise at first, now that there's a full episode out there, SpongeBob Squarepants makes for a pretty good anime series. It's already got fights and wacky character designs, it turns out all it needed was that final push from a talented group. As for the official series, SpongeBob's third film outing, Sponge on the Run, is currently getting ready for a video on demand release on CBS All Access.

SpongeBob SquarePants is easily one of the biggest original cartoons released on Nickelodeon, and one fan created an anime interpretation of the series that has been bouncing around the internet since it's original arrival, and now, fans can enjoy the adventures of this new take on Bikini Bottom with an English Dub! Created by the animator Narmak, the first episode is able to perfectly blend the world of the Krusty Krab with the world of anime, taking the fry cook sponge and imagining him as Shonen hero that is working toward saving the Mr. Krab's Krabby Patty secret formula.

SpongeBob SquarePants first arrived on Nickelodeon in 1999 and is still producing new episodes of the adventures of the denizens of Bikini Bottom over twenty years later. With two movies under the fry cook's belt, and a third on the way in the form of SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge on the Run, it's clear that Nickelodeon will continue to venture into the world of the Krusty Krab for years to come. Much like Fox's The Simpsons, the series could continue for a decade more, if not beyond, based on the popularity of the franchise since its arrival onto Nickelodeon!

The short, "SpongeBob Anime Ep1: Bubble Bass Arc" first was posted to creator Narmak's YouTube channel, with 1.54 million subscribers, on July 24. The nearly 15-minute short film loosely adapts an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants titled "Pickles." In the original episode, a character named Bubble Bass orders a Krabby Patty hamburger, which is made by SpongeBob. Bubble Bass claims SpongeBob forgot the pickles, sending him spiraling into a depression. At the end of the episode, it's revealed that SpongeBob had not forgotten the pickles after all—rather that Bubble Bass was hiding them under his tongue to get out of paying.

This anime version of SpongeBob SquarePants has had to overcome some hurdles when the first episode of this unique creation was released onto YouTube. With the video platform de-listing the first episode, saying the video violated the platform's child safety policy, a social media campaign was created in an attempt to bring back the episode to YouTube and luckily, buzz was able to do just that. The original episode of the series is dubbed with Japanese speaking voice actors, so adding this additional take with an English Dub definitely puts this interpretation of the Krusty Krab up there with other anime series!

In the episode, the animator is able to play on the numerous tropes of Shonen anime series while also hilariously incorporating the biggest names of the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. It's currently unknown when or if another episode of this unique anime will land, but fans are certainly looking forward to once again visiting the anime version of the sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea!

SpongeBob SquarePants anime: Episode 2 release date, YouTube removal explained

The SpongeBob anime is taking the internet by storm, but why did YouTube remove episode 1 and what date will episode 2 release?

There is no way around it, the SpongeBob SquarePants anime is one of the most anticipated adaptations in recent memory and is exactly what we needed.

The adaptation is produced by the incredibly talented Narmak, whose anime shorts and classic cartoon adaptations has been a source of entertainment for millions of people for years.

Episode 1 premiered on YouTube to a superb reception, but YouTube then removed the video, sending fans of the adaptation into a fit of rage. Why did YouTube remove episode 1 and when will episode 2 come out?

SpongeBob anime episode 1 release date…

  • The first full episode of the SpongeBob SquarePants anime was uploaded by Narmak on July 24.

Last month, the incredibly talented Narmak uploaded the official trailer for the full anime series, which currently has over 2 million views on YouTube.

The first episode was uploaded on July 24 and unsurprisingly, the video went viral almost instantly, garnering over 8 million views on YouTube. You can watch it for yourself here.

A fantastic review from fan-favourite YouTube personality and Twitch streamer MoistCr1TiKal, aka Penguin0, which I highly recommend watching if you haven’t already.

YouTube removes episode 1…

  • Unfortunately, the first episode of the SpongeBob SquarePants anime was then “been removed for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.”

According to Narmak, the first episode was removed because it violated YouTubes child safety policy, but claims that the video was itself already marked as ‘not safe for children’.

“Hi guys, my Spongebob Anime Episode 1 was REMOVED from Youtube. The reasoning: Youtube believes it was “directed towards younger minors and families.” I now have 2 strikes on my channel. I’m trying to get the video back up, but I honestly have no idea what will happen; am just waiting for YouTube to respond to me. I have appealed the removal.” – Narmak.

Thankfully, it appears that the volume of support fort Namark and the SpongeBob anime reached YouTube and episode 1 was back up just over 24 hours later.

SpongeBob anime episode 2 release date…

  • At the time of writing, we don’t have any information as to when episode 2 of the SpongeBob anime will premiere, but don’t expect it to be anytime soon.

As Narmak says in the video, this one episode took nearly six months to produce, meaning that a second episode could well take the same amount of time to producer.

However, with how popular the first episode has become and considering how much support the series has been shown on social media, we could see production being streamlined for episode 2.

An optimistic prediction would be October 2020, but a more realistic prediction would be December 2020.

SpongeBob anime English dubbing…

  • We don’t have an official release date for the SpongeBob SquarePants English anime, but it is ‘coming soon’ according to Narmak.

Yesterday, July 31, Narmak uploaded the official trailer for the English dubbing of the series, which currently has more than 1.2 million views on YouTube.

  • RADIANT: Another hit anime delayed because of coronavirus

We will bring you updates as soon as more information becomes available.
