How to Reset the Comtrend AR-5381u

This page shows you how to reset the Comtrend AR-5381u router back to it's original factory defaults. This is not the same thing a reboot. A router reboot cycles the power to the device in order to solve minor behavioral issues you might be having with your router. Where a router reset takes all the settings and returns every one of them back to factory defaults.

Warning: A reset can cause more problems if you are unaware of what it does. Please take the following into consideration before you continue:

  • This reset causes the router's main username and password to be reverted back to it's original factory settings.
  • The Internet name and password are also reverted back to factory defaults.
  • If you have a DSL router you must re-enter the ISP username and password in order to use the Internet again. Call your Internet Service Provider for more information.
  • Finally if you have ever made any other changes to your router you need to write these down so you can re-enter them after the reset is complete.

Comtrend Default Login - Username, Password and IP Address

  • Establish a Connection to Your Comtrend Router

Firstly, you’ll need to make sure there is a connection between your computer and the Comtrend router. You can do so either using your computer’s WiFi network by looking for it among the available networks or using an ethernet cable by plugging it into your computer and one of the “out” slots on your router.

If you want to connect over WiFi, you’ll need your network password. However, with an ethernet connection, this isn’t necessary.

  • Navigate to IP 192.168.1.1 Using Your Browser

Once you are connected to your router either via an ethernet cable or over WiFi, launch any web browser on your computer, like Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc. You’ll need to navigate to the IP address of your router to access the setup pages.

The most typical default IP address for Comtrend routers is 192.168.1.1. Type it into the address bar of your browser and see if it takes you to the login for the setup pages.

If that doesn’t work, you can try to establish your router's IP by searching for your model on this page or using 'ipconfig' command.

You should now be presented with a login popup box in your web browser.

If none of these work, you might either have a problem with your router, a non-standard router, or a non-standard router configuration. You should contact your Comtrend support representative if that’s the case or follow the instructions below regarding the reset of your router.

  • Use Default Login Info to Access Your Comtrend Router

If you’ve changed your login credentials and you know what they are, you can type them in to log in to your router. If not, check the back of your router in case the username and password are printed alongside the barcode and model information.

If you don’t know what your username and password are, you can try the default Comtrend login which is:

    Username: admin

    Password: admin

If that doesn’t work, try a combination of any of the following commonly used usernames and passwords:

    Usernames: admin, root.

    Passwords: admin, root, 1234, 12345.

If none of these work, you will have to reset your router to its factory configuration.

  • Need Help to Configure Your Comtrend Router Settings?

You should now be logged into the setup pages of your Comtrend router. Be careful what settings you change here as they may affect your router’s operation.

If you reset your router, you may want to change the admin login credentials to secure access to your router.

Here are some of the other things you can change:

    - The name and password of your WiFi network

    - Whether you want your router to transmit on the 2.4 or 5 GHz network band

    - Whether or not to use WPS security

You can also troubleshoot or run a diagnostics check under ‘Diagnostics’ in the lefthand menu. If your router is currently working fine, make sure you write down what changes you make so that you can revert to them if something unexpected happens.

However, if something does go wrong, you can always reset your router back to the factory configuration and go from there.

If worst comes to worst, you can always contact your Comtrend support representative. Check the back of your router for your model code to help things along on your support call.

Comtrend Default Login – Username, Password and IP Address

  • Establish a Connection to Your Comtrend Router
First, you must make sure that your PC and Comtrend router are associated. You can do this by looking at accessible networks using your PC’s WiFi network, or by using one of the ethernet outlets on your PC and router.
  • Navigate to IP 192.168.1.1 Using Your Browser
When you associate it with your router over an ethernet connection or WiFi, you can download Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc. on your PC. Open any Internet browser as you like. You must search your router’s IP address to access the edit pages.

The default IP address for Comtrend routers is usually 192.168.1.1. Type in your browser’s address bar and access the sign-in screen for edit pages.

If the browser doesn’t work, you should try searching your model on this page or using the ‘ipconfig’ command to create your router’s IP. A pop-up box will now appear for you to log in to your web browser.

If none of these methods work, your router is a non-standard router, or you may have a non-standard router configuration. If this is the case, you should contact your Comtrend brand’s technical support representative or follow the instructions below to reset your router.

  • Use Default Login Info to Access Your Comtrend Router
If you have a chance to change your login credentials, you can type them to log in to your router. If not, check the back of your router, user name and password for browser tag and model data.

If you do not know your username and password for the login, you should try the default Comtrend login.

    Username: admin
    Password: admin

If that doesn’t work, try the following commonly used usernames and passwords that we provide for you:

    Usernames: admin, root.
    Passwords: admin, root, 1234, 12345.

  • Need Help to Configure Your Comtrend Router Settings?
You should now be logged in to the edit pages of your Comtrend router. Please be careful when changing any settings here, as this may affect the effectiveness of your router.

After resetting your router, it is possible that you want to change the administrator login credentials to allow secure access to your router.

Here are some of the things you can change:

    • The name and password of your WiFi network
    • Whether you want your router to transmit on the 2.4 or 5 GHz network band
    • Whether or not to use WPS security

Likewise, you can search or run a diagnostic check under ‘Diagnostics’ in the left-hand menu. If your router is now in good condition, be sure to save your setting changes, knowing that something unpredictable may occur and you can revert to them.

Note, however, that if something goes wrong, you can always reset your router to factory configuration.

Nothing of the methods above worked for me!

All you need to do is to reset your modem. This can be done easily by clicking on the reset button at the back or at the bottom of your router. If you hold down this small button for approximately 20 seconds, (you may have to use a toothpick), then your modem will get restored to the factory settings. What you need to keep in mind is that when you reset your modem, you will lose your connection online. It is therefore better to take an expert's assistance in this regard. Note: If you have not enough information, it is obviously recommended that you should get help from a person who has all the knowledge about this topic.

How to Reset the Comtrend AR-5302

On this page we show you how to reset the Comtrend AR-5302 router back to factory settings. This isn't the same thing as rebooting a router. A router reboot is cycling the power to the device in order to solve some minor behavioral problem with the router. A router reset is taking all the settings and returning them to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting the router is a big step to take in problem solving. There are consequences to a reset. Please consider the following:

    • This reset causes the router's main username and password to be reverted back to factory.
    • The Internet name and password are also reverted to factory defaults.
    • If you use a DSL router you must re-enter the ISP username and password. To get this you will need to call your Internet Service Provider.
    • If you have ever made any other changes to your router you should write these down so you can reconfigure them after the reset is complete.

    Reset the Comtrend AR-5302

The first step in any reset is to know where the reset button is located. This tiny recessed reset button is found on the back panel of the device. Take a look at the following image:

    router reset factory settings

As you can probably tell this button is quite small. You need to take a pin or unfolded paperclip to press and hold the reset button down for at least 10 seconds. This begins the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you end up simply rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Remember that this reset is going to erase every setting you have ever changed on this router. If you want to try and avoid a reconfiguration you will need to try other troubleshooting techniques.

    Login to the Comtrend AR-5302

After this reset is complete, login to the Comtrend AR-5302 router using the proper default username and password. This information is in our Login Guide for the Comtrend AR-5302 router.
